What are Referrals?

BNI Parkside is part of Business Networking International, the biggest referral organisation in the world so what is a referral and what sets us apart from purely "networking" groups?

​A referral is a genuine opportunity to do business with somebody. Within our group, if you are passed the details of someone who would like to speak to you, it's because they have expressed an interest in talking to you and are expecting your call.

We don't deal in "leads" and we certainly don't pass "cold calls". We know someone who has a need for your service and would like to find out more. Sometimes it's through listening to others about what they are looking for or we listen to each other to find out our business targets and, if we know them, start the conversation.

That is the difference between BNI and other networking organisations, we're looking to pass potential business to each other, not just pass business cards or try and sell to each other.

Who we are looking for

We are looking to meet with individuals who will bring enthusiasm and integrity to our meeting. As we allow just one person per profession to join the group you should take a look at our list of current members, to see if your seat is available. If in doubt, please call Cheryl Willey, our chapter's vice-president, who will be able to help.

In particular, we are looking for a commercial or domestic cleaner, a PR company, a personal trainer and an architect to come and meet the group but if you are in any profession not currently represented then you are more than welcome to come and visit.

Are you an office supplies company?

Every week, members of the group are looking to pass referrals to office supplies companies for stationery, printer ink and other items we all need as businesses on a regular basis - we just have nobody to pass these referrals too. If you are an office supplies company, please don't miss out on a real chance for more business
